| Inglewood: The Abortion Facility That Wouldn't Die | |
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. And skunk cabbage by any other name still stinks. Thus it is with Inglewood General Abortion Hospital Clinic Women's Center Medical Group, or The Abortion Facility Formerly Known as Prince, or whatever it calls itself nowadays. It's hard to tell if it's still around, with all the name changes. The multiple incarnations seen in many abortion facilities are part of a three-pronged approach to avoiding lawsuits and oversight:
I've seen facilities keep operating by just closing down and re-opening under another name -- remember Dadeland. When shut down by the IRS for back taxes, it was simply reopened as Women's Service Center. Same owner, same administration, same doctors, same problems, different name.
I've seen lawsuits thrown out because there were so many entities, with so many names, concurrently entangled in a single abortion facility. One attorney, evidently acting on information given by his confused client, accidentally sued not the abortion clinic itself, but the building it was in. By keeping the building, the administration, the licensing, and so forth, incorporated separately and named differently, clever abortion facility owners foil many attempts to pin them down and hold them accountable.
Another handy stunt is to reincorporate under a similar name, but as a different type of legal entity. Thus it was with the Inglewood entity. I'll explain the benefits to the facility -- and the risks to women -- when the nature of Inglewood becomes more clear.
To the best of my knowledge, Inglewood General Hospital, Inglewood Hospital, Inglewood Women's Hospital, Inglewood Women's Clinic, West Coast Medical Group, and West Coast Women's Medical Group are all the same facility in different incarnations. Belous Medical Clinic seems to be a subsidiary, but might actually be the Inglewood entity. I think the Inglewood entity still exists, having been bought out by and put under the dirty umbrella of Family Planning Associates Medical Group -- in which case, it's now a National Abortion Federation member facility. If I'm wrong, correct me.
Whatever it called itself, and whatever it's called now, if it still exists, the Inglewood entity is responsible for the deaths of at least six women. And it's pulled some amazing stunts over the years. The Flying Wallendas could have learned a lot from Inglewood Women's Hospital/Clinic/Medical Group.
The women who met their deaths at Inglewood include:
In the next feature, The Inglewood Deaths, we'll take a closer look at how each of these women died. Then we'll start looking at the details of how Inglewood operated. We'll look at other patients who suffered at Inglewood but managed to escape with their lives. Then we'll start looking at Inglewood's abortionists and how they behaved elsewhere as well as within Inglewood's walls. Finally, we'll sum up how such a place can remain open for business.
And lest anybody rest easy under the assumption that being bought out by FPA will improve the care at Inglewood, we'll end the examination of Inglewood and begin the long, arduous, distasteful process of looking closely at Family Planning Associates Medical Group and founder Edward Campbell Allred.
Are you ready, gentle reader? Take my hand, and let's begin.
Note: The Inglewood entity is Acme Reproductive Services 36 in Lime 5.
