| &quo;Beverly&quo; Roe, Abortion Death | |
&quo;Beverly&quo; is one of the women Life Dynamics identifies on their &quo;Blackmun Wall&quo; as having been killed by a safe and legal abortion. Beverly was 21 years old. Her fetus was diagnosed with anencephaly, a condition in which the fetal brain and skull do not form properly. Babies with this condition almost always die before, during, or shortly after birth. At 35 weeks of gestation, Beverly elected to undergo an abortion. Just over six hours into the abortion, Beverly had trouble breathing and went into cardiopulmonary arrest. Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. Autopsy showed that Beverly had died from an amniotic fluid embolism. She died some time between 1972 and 1975.
