"Gloria" is one of the women Life Dynamics notes on their "Blackmun Wall" of women killed by legalized abortion.
Gloria was 35 years old in 1976, when she went to her doctor due to nausea and abdominal pain. She was given antacids and had x-rays done, which revealed no cause for Gloria's sympcoms.
Two months later, Gloria was still ill, so she returned to the doctor who told her that she was about 10 weeks pregnant. He also told her that the x-rays may have harmed the fetus. Gloria decided to have an abortion.
Gloria was referred to a doctor for her abortion, but for some reason there was a four-week delay before she went to his office to begin the abortion. Gloria was then estimated to be 15 weeks pregnant. The doctor administered prostaglandin at his office to start the abortion.
Shortly after the prostaglandin was administered, Gloria began to experience nausea and vomiting, then became unresponsive and went into cardio-respiratory arrest. CPR was begun, and Gloria was transferred to a hospital emergency room. She was in ventricular fibrillation.
Staff at the hospital were able to resuscitate her and deliver the dead fetus, but Gloria remained paralyzed until her death five months later. She left six children motherless.
