On November 19, 1924, 38-year-old Elizabeth Strazdas died at Chicago's Mother Cabrini Hospital from complications of a criminal abortion performed that day. The person responsible for Elizabeth's death was never identified. Keep in mind that things that things we take for granted, like antibiotics and blood banks, were still in the future.
